Working with focus groups from around the Trust, and through gathering more information directly from you about how the menopause has/is affecting you in the workplace, our support programme looks like this:
Working within the guidance of our new menopause policy, here are some examples of the practical workplace support which may be put in place for you:
Use our Welfare check on a regular basis to monitor how you're coping at work. This enables us and you to chart how your symptoms impact on how you feel about your work.
Explore whether there are any adjustments which can reasonably be made in the workplace to support you during this time.
Discuss our flexible working policy. If you feel the need to reduce your hours to better support your emotional wellbeing during this time, we will aim to support this
If you are struggling with symptoms and possibly with absence as a result, we may suggest that an Occupational Health referral would be useful. This referral will be with a qualified health professional who will be able to support the implementation of any workplace changes you need
A Menopause Risk Assessment may be undertaken as part of your support package. This will ensure you get appropriate support from a Health and Safety perspective
Access to medical support and counselling through our Health cashplan. Depending on your symptoms or concerns, they will tailor your support package by accessing the right professional help. This service is available 24/7, by calling 0800 107 6585 - quote “UK Healthcare” and number 73006
Ensure you've taken the Judicium Education 'Stress Management in schools' course for employees. (Speak to your line manager if you haven't completed this online course). This course will help you to recognise signs of stress, and to understand how what actions you, and the Trust, should take to manage this effectively.
Use these menopause pages to link through to some fabulous external support resources.
Talk to someone - sharing experience is so important! Why not speak to one of the Trust's Menopause Ambassadors? As well as offering direct support and being able to signpost you to workplace help, they can facilitate connecting you and your line manager if you're not yet comfortable talking to them directly.
Complete our anonymous Menopause Symptoms survey. This quick assessment establishes which common symptoms that may impact on workplace performance you are suffering from, and also asks you to share any tips regarding how best to deal with these. Your personal details are not collected, but your individual experience is what will make the difference as we build our proposition.
This information will inform what we need to put in place as we develop our support package further
